Successful Completion for River Diversion and Closure of the Dam Works of Kafulafuta Water Supply System Project in Zambia
On March 30, 2019, local time，the node ceremony of the river diversion and closure of the dam works of Kafulafuta Water Supply System Project, undertaken by CCEC, was held in Masaiti, Ndola, Zambia. Representatives from the owner, Kafubu Water Sewerage Corporation, General Manager Mr. Athanasius K. Mwaba, Director of the Engineering Department Mr. Benald Phiri, Planning & Development Department Manager and Project Manager Mr. Paul Bilima, Deputy General Manager of CCEC Mr. Li Guang, Project Manager Mr. Qu Qingzhu, Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation and representatives from all Chinese units participating in the construction attended the ceremony.
As one of the most important livelihood projects promoted energetically by the Zambian government, the Kafulafuta Water Supply System Project will greatly improve the water quality and quantity for residents living in the areas of Ndola, Luanshya and Masaiti in the Copperbelt Province. Meanwhile,during the construction period, plenty of employment opportunities for residents along the dam, pipeline and pump station construction sites, and opportunities of material supplying and project subcontracting for local enterprises in Zambia will be created and provided, thereby promoting the living standards of residents along the line and the development of local enterprises.
