CMEC/CCEC's Chairman Sun Bai met with SA Minister of Energy

On December 14th 2014, CMEC/CCEC's Chairman Mr. Sun Bai met Ms.Tina Joemat-Pettersson, South Africa Minister of Energy; in Beijing. Mr. Sun made a brief introduction about the company, especially as an international-renowned comprehensive engineering contractor, CMEC achieved very good performance on the development and construction of a large number of energy and power projects in Southeast Asia, Africa, South America and Europe, having strong capabilities and rich experiences to provide excellent engineering contracting services in the field of energy and power for South Africa. Against the background that the Chinese government is implementing it's policy of ‘One Belt and One Road’, CMEC looks forward to making further cooperation with South Africa energy ministry and ESKOM, and contribute to the local economic development.
Ms. Pettersson thanked Mr. Sun for his warm hospitality, and emphasised that the ‘energy and power’ is a key factor influencing the economic and social development of South Africa. However, the sustainable economic development of South Africa is badly restricted due to current serious shortage of power. Ms. Pettersson expected the two sides to push the cooperation on energy and power, and step into the stage of implementation, and said that South Africa energy ministry will give strong supports.

Thereafter, the President of CCEC Mr. Xing Guoyou, signed framework agreement on energy and power cooperation with TROJAN-MAZI MANCO. Mr. Sun Bai, Vice President of CCEC Mr. Huang Fuwei, and Chief Finance Officer of CCEC Mr. Ren Junwen, and International Engineering and Trade Department No.1 attended the signing ceremony. The two parties agreed to cooperate on 27 key projects proposed by South Africa energy ministry and ESKOM, with expected total investment of around 15 billion US dollars.
